1st June CASTELO BRANCO

We went for a drive in the Ute! First we went to Ivanha de Nova, which is another smallish town near us; the old part, which we wouldn’t want to drive the camper van through, is very pretty, the new part has a couple of supermarkets – none of these town have real shops, I have no idea where the Portuguese buy their clothes for instance, or crockery and bed linen.

Our plan was to then drive to Donkey Quinta; driving all the way in the Ute, walk around for a bit and then go to the cafe for a snack (lunch). What happened was ...... we drove there in the Ute and realised that it might be quite a squeeze to get the camper van down the track (bugger, bugger, bugger!).

Mark and Glen came back today; they have Portuguese neighbours who have invited them around for drinks tomorrow evening; they’re rich, posh and have a swimming pool – it’s not fair!!
