We’re picking up the cement mixer on Monday which means that we’ll start on the floors on Tuesday. We’ve had offers of help from Gary and Pam and Mark – they’ve all got to do their own floors and want to learn how to do it! There wasn’t really much work we could do today so we had a bit of a lazy day sitting in the sun reading our kindles.
In the afternoon we visited the couple who live in Sao Miguel de Acha; he’s Dutch, she’s Indian, they have a four year old daughter, and they live in Kenya and work for the UN. They’ve had the house for eighteen months; they didn’t do the work on the house themselves the guy who sold it to them (Alan Henderson, he was the first person to show us properties when we came here) also has a renovation company. It was basic but clean and habitable; they had a new roof, cemented and tiled floor, and rendered walls inside (the house construction was stone). The building was about the same height as the gym and studio and they had a sleep platform above their two bedrooms; so we’re certain we can do similar.
Tomorrow we’re helping Pam and Mark collect the furniture they’ve bought from yet another couple of expats.
