Another disturbed night – fireworks in the early hours; and it’s not even as if they’re pretty, they’re just noisy sounding like gunfire and cannons going off. And what about the fire hazard?
Another thing we’re perplexed by is seeing a cavalcade of cars, all with ribbons tied to their aerials, sounding their horns as they drive along; the first time it happened we were driving off of a roundabout and we thought they were hooting at us because we had interrupted a funeral procession (there was a hearse way in front of the cars). But we saw and heard the same thing in Fundao the other day and there was no sign of a hearse.
It’s starting to feel autumnal; the mornings are decidedly chilly, the daytime still has a lot of heat in it, but when the sun isn’t up it’s not nearly so warm as it was – I’m not complaining! I just put on an extra jumper.
I saw this huge wasp thing dragging a very big spider (at least 1½” across) along the ground; Brett took some photos with his ipod, every time he got too close the wasp would drop the spider and attack Brett!
These were BIG!!!
We went into Castelo Branco to buy supplies this afternoon; I downloaded a few articles on making wine from grapes. There were some videos but I didn’t have the software to download them, which was annoying, so I had a sulk. We bought some lovely old fashioned bowls (made in Portugal) from Jumbo 69 cents each, that’s about 55p!
On the way home we stopped at Mark and Glenn’s, to pick up the cement mixer, and they gave us dinner. It was a nice relaxing evening.
